I started this blog as a sort of offsite Netflix queue for new releases so I could keep a personal “library” and add as much as I wanted. That’s still what it is pretty much, although I do add a few other things from time to time.

As for what you’ll find in the Picks, I trend towards sci-fi, dark comedy, thrillers, foreign films, Brit-stuff, and have a particular love for the odd, peculiar, quirky and completely different.  Well-made dramas, action-adventure and superhero blockbusters have their appeal, as well as thought-provoking documentaries.  What don’t I like?  In-your-face, gory horror (although I do enjoy a good supernatural thriller) and exploitation films.  Stupid comedies bug me too, especially the crude and vulgar ones.  Not wowed by the Apatow. Can’t stand Borat. Not much for most Ben Stiller, Will Farrell, Jim Carrey and suchnot (although I do like a few of their films).  I’ve recently added a “Meh” section for suchnot, which is strangely much more popular than most of the stuff I like. Mehs seldom make it to my Netflix queue, but sometimes get a viewing on cable (shh!).
